Designer Destinations // Shopping Hotspots

Many people think the role of an interior designer is long hours designing beautiful boards and creating swoon-worthy schemes, and whilst it does have its moments, it’s probably 20% of the role.

An interior designer role typically entails client meetings, project management, organisation, and diplomatic discussions when things aren’t going to plan because the decorator’s last job ran over… Then reorganisation, quite a lot of paperwork and tons of courier work delivering.

Plus, my personal favourite part: Sourcing.

Qualified designers leave design school with very limited sourcing experience. I think this is the magical interior ingredient. A good little black book is essential. It takes years to understand who is who, why you should choose them, product suitability, quality and price point. But when you do, this is how you can achieve the client’s desires within the client’s budget… and make some profit because you’ve not wasted too many hours trying to find things.

Getting inside the black book will give you the same advantages in your schemes. I want to save you the headache and give you some of my favourite places to head for your home design needs. And if you need a supplier or product that’s not listed, just tag @natalie in the HomeEnvy Hub group, and I’ll take a look.
